Our Faculty and Students Present at the 16th Academic Annual Meeting of the Professional Committee on Developmental Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society

From November 10 to 12, 2023, the 16th annual academic conference of the Professional Committee on Developmental Psychology of the Chinese Psychological Society was held in Nanjing Normal University, Jiangsu Province with the theme of "Individual Development and Mental Health in the New Era". The meeting talked about the characteristics of children's psychological development, psychological development and brain development, child development and family and school education, child development and mental health promotion and new technologies for development research in the new era, as well as corresponding workshop and training, aiming to exchange cutting-edge theories and empirical research results in developmental psychology, promote the better contribution of developmental psychology to "serving a healthy China", and accelerate high-quality social development in China. Professor Wang Xiaohua and 2022-enrolled doctoral student Chen Qilian of SSDPP attended the event.

Professor Wang Xiaohua participated in the workshop and training of this annual conference, listened to scholars' reports at different academic forums, and made academic exchanges with the relevant experts from Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Zhejiang University, etc. Under the guidance of Professor Wang Xiaohua, doctoral student Chen Qilian delivered a report titled "Vision Problems and Positive Adolescent Development: The Mediating Role of Visual-related Quality of Life and the Regulating Role of Self Control" at the doctoral student forum on "Academic Development and School Adaptation", talking about the relationship between visual problems and positive adolescent development and its mechanism, and calling for attention to the long-term adverse effects of visual problems on the positive development outcomes of adolescents and attention to the role of visual correction, emotional counseling, and self-control ability. The experts at the sub-forum affirmed the practical significance of the research issues and put forward constructive suggestions for the improvement of the article.

A few hundred experts and scholars from all over the country participated in the event. Through extensive and in-depth communication, the team has further clarified its future research focus. Based on the practical needs and from the perspectives of individuals, families, schools, society and medicine, the study will focus on improving the mental health and boosting positive development of adolescents. Based on SSDPP's interdisciplinary and diversified research platform, the study group will explore new paths to comprehensive development of adolescents and a healthy China and harmonious society.
